History & significance

A Shaivite Majapahit temple in the Jombang hills raised in memory of Queen Tribhuwana Wijayatunggadewi, whose portrait statue took the form of Parvati. About 12 m of the andesite structure survives on a three-tiered base, carrying 51 reliefs on themes of water and purification; it was noted by Alfred Russel Wallace and listed as a Cultural Property of Indonesia in 2020.
