The only Tamil temple in Singapore dedicated to Krishna together with Rukmini, begun in 1870 by the wealthy merchant Hanuman Beem Singh, who set images of the deities at the foot of a banyan tree to serve a growing Hindu population in the district. The main shrine was rebuilt in 1933 on donations from Naraina Pillai and Pakirisamy Pillai, in a classical Dravidian idiom following Agama Sastra, and has been renovated repeatedly since, most recently between 2016 and 2018.
