Begun in 1913 as a wooden shrine raised by Lakshmana Nadar and Hindu workers at the Alexandra Brickworks, rebuilt in brick in 1923, and moved in the early 1980s from Pasir Panjang Road to Depot Road, where the present temple was consecrated on 11 September 1983. Alongside Kali it houses Vinayagar, Subramaniar, Muneeswaran and the Navagrahas.
