History & significance

One of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams, its 'beautiful-bodied lord' praised by Tirugnanasambandar in the Tevaram. The shrine stands near the Kollidam in Mayiladuthurai district.

Mahendra is believed to have worshipped Shiva here, giving the village its name.
