History & significance

A Shiva temple at Tiruvidaivasal in Tiruvarur district counted among the Paadal Petra Sthalams, the shrines hymned in the Tevaram. Its Tevaram hymn by Gnanasambandar was recovered only in 1917, which raised the recognised total of such temples to 275.
