History & significance

A Paadal Petra Sthalam on the north bank of the Kaveri in Ariyalur district, glorified in the Tevaram; it is famed for its annual wedding festival of Nandikesvarar and houses the largest bronze statue of the poet-saint Thiruvalluvar in Tamil Nadu, cast from 750 kg of metal.
