A Buddhist monastic complex laid out under Jayavarman VII over the remains of a tenth-century temple, similar in plan to Ta Prohm and Preah Khan but smaller and simpler. Monks lived here until the 1960s; poor-quality sandstone and faulty construction left it badly decayed, Henri Marchal began conservation in 1920, and excavations by Sophia University between 1992 and 2002 recovered 274 fragments of buried Buddhist sandstone statuary.
