One of the 108 Divya Desams, at Thirukannamangai in Tiruvarur district, glorified in the Nalayira Divya Prabandham; built under the later Cholas with Thanjavur Nayak additions.

Sthala katha — the legend

Lakshmi, emerging from the churned Ocean of Milk, is said to have done penance here until Vishnu wed her as Bhaktavatsala.
