A soapstone Shiva temple at Nilagunda with four sanctums, dated by the Archaeological Survey of India to the last quarter of the 11th century, though the historian Adam Hardy places it in the 12th. Its non-mainstream Later Chalukya idiom carries Hoysala touches, and it is protected as a monument of national importance.
