Raised around 1112 by Mahadeva, a commander under the Western Chalukya emperor Vikramaditya VI, this temple pairs dravida wall articulation with a nagara superstructure and is ringed by thirteen subsidiary linga shrines. A contemporary inscription calls it Devalaya Chakravarti, emperor among temples.
