History & significance

A twin-sanctum temple facing a smaller Surya shrine across a shared platform, generally dated between the early eleventh and mid twelfth centuries and counted among the fullest statements of the Kalyana Chalukya idiom that fuses Nagara, Dravida and Vesara forms. Hoysala king Ballala II reaffirmed the site's standing in 1192.
