History & significance

The one temple at Khajuraho dedicated to Surya, built about 1020–1025 CE and probably consecrated on Shivaratri, 23 February 1023. Part of the UNESCO-listed Khajuraho Group and an ASI Monument of National Importance, it holds an unusual eleven-headed Vishnu showing his supreme form with the ten incarnations.
