Lahore, Punjab · 31.5898°, 74.3118°
Marks the place in Lahore where Guru Arjan Dev, the fifth Guru, met his death in 1606 after being tortured on Jahangir's orders. His son Guru Hargobind raised a memorial here in 1619; the main building with its gilded dome was put up in Maharaja Ranjit Singh's reign, with further additions until 1947.
After his torture the Guru is said to have gone into the Ravi to bathe and never to have come out again, and the Mughal party sent after him could not find him.
