History & significance

A twin-shrine soapstone temple raised about 1057 CE by Demarasa, a minister of the Western Chalukya king Someshvara I, and enlarged by later additions recorded in Old Kannada inscriptions. It is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India as a monument of national importance.
