History & significance

A Chola-period Shiva temple in Kadugodi on the eastern edge of Bengaluru, assigned to the reign of Rajendra Chola and showing design carried over from the earlier Western Ganga dynasty. The locality's name comes from the temple standing in forest — kadu (forest) and gudi (temple) — and the original lingam, once stolen, was replaced with one brought from Varanasi.
