A medieval Shiva temple at Koyambedu on the bank of the Cooum in Chennai, dated to the twelfth-century Chola period and enclosing a large tank. The goddess is worshipped here as Dharmasamvardhini, and the temple tree is a jackfruit.
The shrine is said to have been developed by the sage Valmiki while Sita lived there after her separation from Rama, and is remembered as a place of family reunion after Rama was reunited with Lava and Kusha.
