One of the best known of the old Jain tirthas of Tamil Nadu, raised at Mannargudi under Chola rule in the 12th century. It has a three-tiered rajagopura, a two-tiered vimana and a mahamandapa built in Maratha style; the present 56 cm image of the presiding Tirthankara was made in 1986.
