A 10th-century Chola temple standing on a hillock island in the Kaveri on the Erode-Karur road, with an athi tree in the precinct held to be about 3,000 years old; Aadi Perukku and the Tamil New Year draw thousands of pilgrims.
Temple lore says the sage Agastya raised a lingam of sand on the hillock and meditated there, and that Shiva appeared and declared the place would bless not only the sage but all his devotees.
