A rare Chola pallippadai, a temple raised over a burial: Rajendra Chola placed the ashes of his stepmother Panchavan Madeviyar, a queen of Rajaraja I, in an urn here and built a Shiva shrine above it, the urn still shown over the lingam. It fell into ruin and was restored by the Tamil Nadu Archaeology Department in 1978.
