A two-storey Buddhist building beside Candi Kalasan, raised under the same Kalasan inscription of 778 that ordered a sanctuary for the bodhisattva Tara and a vihara for monks; scholars read Sari as that monastic dwelling. Its walls carry 36 Buddhist figures in tribhanga pose along with Tara, bodhisattva and kinnara reliefs, once coated in the protective vajralepa plaster.
