തിരുനാക്കര ശ്രീ മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രം, കോട്ടയം
Kottayam, Kerala · 9.5904°, 76.5188°
The principal Shiva temple of Kottayam town, built about five centuries ago by the Maharaja of Thekkumkur in traditional Kerala style.
An ageing Thekkumkur king who could no longer travel to Vadakkumnathan is said to have been promised the god's presence at home; after a dream, his servants found a bleeding swayambhu linga at Nakkarakkunnu, and he raised the temple over it.
