A Shiva temple in Wayanad attributed to the Chera kings and reckoned about a thousand years old. It is ritually bound to the nearby Thirunelly Vishnu Temple: ancestral rites performed at Thirunelly are held to be incomplete until the pilgrim also visits here.
The separate Jala Durga shrine within the compound is said to have been consecrated by the sage Parashurama.
