A Vishnu temple at Thirunagari in Mayiladuthurai district where the deity is worshipped as Vedarajan and Lakshmi as Amruthavalli. Held to have been begun by the Cholas, it received its pillared halls and larger shrines from Vijayanagara and Thanjavur Nayak patrons in the 16th century.

Karthama Prajapathi is said to have done penance here for Lakshmi, who hid in the temple tank among the lotuses; he was born again as prince Sangabalan and became the poet-saint Thirumangai Alvar after being given the sacred mantra.
