History & significance

A Chandela temple commissioned by King Dhanga in the UNESCO-listed Khajuraho group, laid out as a panchayatana with four subsidiary shrines of which two survive; the emerald linga named in its dedicatory inscription is lost and a stone linga stands in its place.
