A Shiva temple at Ambal in Tiruvarur district, held to be the last of the sixty raised-platform maadakoil shrines built by Kochengat Chola, with a three-tiered rajagopuram. It is one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams, sung by Tirugnanasambandar in the Tevaram, and is run by the Tamil Nadu HR&CE department.
Brahma, cursed by Shiva, is said to have worshipped here and bathed in the temple tank Annam Poigai to regain his form.
