An octagonal brick temple with a polygonal sikhara raised in 1764 under the Ahom king Rajeswar Singha on the remains of a stone temple of about the 11th century. It sits where three hill streams meet to form the Basistha and Bharalu rivers of Guwahati.
The site is held to be the ashrama of the sage Vasistha, and its sunken chamber is said to keep his footprint.
