A Shakta shrine at Uzan Bazaar in Guwahati built in Saka 1647, or 1725 CE, by the Ahom king Siva Singha. It has no image in the sanctum: a small water-filled pit is worshipped as the goddess, who is also identified with the Buddhist Taras Tikshna-Kanta and Eka-Jata; an earlier Kamarupa Pala association has been suggested but is not supported by inscriptions.
The goddess is said to mark where the navel of Sati fell, and a Kamarupa legend tells of Yama complaining that no soul from the region reached hell, after which Ugra Tara was set to drive its people out until the sage Vasishtha, seized while meditating, cursed her.
