A Vaishnava temple in Nalbari district raised under the Ahom king Sutanphaa in the first half of the eighteenth century. It remains an active local centre of Basudev worship in lower Assam.
What follows is the temple’s own traditional account, transmitted through liturgy and local memory. It is recorded here as tradition, not as attested history.
A fisherman's net is said to have stayed snagged in the Jaymangal Beel for seven days until a villager, Gada Kahar, dreamed that Basudev wished to be freed from it; when the king could not lift the stones from the spot, he built the temple over them.
