History & significance
A Shakta temple founded in 1794 by the Ahom king Gaurinath Singha after he moved his capital from Rangpur to Jorhat. Its image had earlier been brought from the Jaintia hills by Rudra Singha, and Durga Puja remains the temple's principal observance.
