A Paadal Petra Sthalam near Thiruvaiyaru revered in the Tevaram and counted among the seven Saptha Sthanam temples of the Aiyarappar circuit. Built by Aditya Chola I in the 9th century, it preserves an inscription of AD 862 from the reign of the Pandya king Marajadaiyan.
A cow poured its ghee daily over a buried lingam; when the spot was dug up the lingam was found and the lord was named Neyyadiappar, "the lord bathed in ghee".
