History & significance

Built in 1749 by the Ahom king Pramatta Singha at the spot where his father Rudra Singha died, and named for him when the linga was installed. Its plan borrows from Mughal mausoleum design and includes underground chambers, drainage and ventilation; damaged in the 1897 and 1950 earthquakes, it is now protected by the Archaeological Survey of India.
